The Ekoji Obon Festival is Ekoji Buddhist Temple’s annual summer Japanese cultural festival, blending joyful community celebration with remembrance: people gather to enjoy food and desserts, vendors, traditional Bon dancing, taiko performances, kids’ activities, and temple tours, while the evening candle ceremony offers a quiet moment to remember and give thanks for loved ones who came before us. Hosted by Ekoji, a Shin Buddhist temple in Fairfax Station, the festival welcomes people of all backgrounds and reflects both the festive and reflective spirit of Obon.
